31  KOSMOSIS: Roleplaying and Story Games / The Drafting Table / Re: Blood and Rust on: December 10, 2011, 02:28:56 pm
Well, I never said he was nice. If you had to pick, you could probably put him down as lawful neutral if anything. kings of the larentili only really socialized with nobles and ranked officals. The lower class had no names and couldn't talk.

also, 20 years crouched in a dark rusting hole, alone, living on lichen, hiding from groaning, blood-eating creatures, the voices of your dead relatives whispering in your ear, all the while the glowing eye constantly vigilant, always watching.

And these are his last days. Either he'll die destroying Hnangha or be killed by it. Alternativly, he can be trapped here forever, replacing Agnasi as master and changing Hnangha's directives, or, worst of all, fail and be incorporated into it's mind. In any case, he's not getting out of here.

So yea, he's a bit of a jerk.

Alright, take your time and don't feel rushed. Not that you did, just trying to be reassuring.

So Hnangha can immitate any voice it knows well enough (having their memories helps).
Fun fact: The Elderly female voice was from Niyames' mother. Hnangha ate her.
33  The Galactic Codex / The Civilization Codex / Re: Graid on: December 09, 2011, 07:15:33 pm
Now i'm working to make sense of the language. Not being a Philologist, this is really fuchin hard. I . I'll stick to getting a few basic words, and building around those.

The species name is Graid. Ient is a suffix for plural

The name of the planet:

English: Earth Sky
Classic Ashadic: Dosom Phos
Coessan: Dose Face
Salomic: Osamee Hora
Grealtic: doshemr Lant
Uthumusad: Oclusakem
Terco: Satha

And thats only half the major dialogues of earthsky. So yea i'm going to fail

EDIT: Oh, and that does not even begin to compare to the trouble with Timelines. In additon to the fact that its huge, I have many. five 'cycles' of civilization, and two dozen ages, each lasting over a million years, and all the people and events to place within them properly so they don't contradict*

But above all that, I also have to contend with changing names.
Changing names. They change their names. Why oh why did I make that part of their culture? And its already importat to a couple character arcs....

Wait, I made that part of their culture. Right then. Graid earn names and keep them, though sometimes they will earn additional ones. There, simplified.

*(The nation Nuingual can't be formed in third age of the fifth cycle, because chardinel was born there in the second age. But If Nuingual is formed early in the second age than that would be before Terco, it's origional settlers. These are the things I have to work out)
34  KOSMOSIS: Roleplaying and Story Games / The Drafting Table / Re: Blood and Rust on: December 08, 2011, 12:25:02 pm
Alright

You might have noticed i'm dividing into parts. They are just there separate the important events and locations. to There will be about eight or nine, depending on how things work out.

And if anyone has anything to say to Hnangha, now is your chance. People are going to start dying soon.
35  KOSMOSIS: Roleplaying and Story Games / The Storyboard / Re: Blood And Rust: Part two (the voice and the serpent) on: December 07, 2011, 10:54:33 pm
Part 2:
The Voice And The Serpent

"I have come to kill you, Machine!"

The machine took a nasally male voice.
“Niyames, your constant euphemisms vex us. At least you gave Agnasi more than one. You just keep calling me ‘machine’. I have a name, you know. But of course you know…”

“Neither of you deserve a title! You disgrace the nobility!”

It used an elderly female voice next.
“I? Disgrace the nobility? Niyames, of all the souls to accuse me of that shame, and there are many, none have quite the irony of you.”

It switched to higher pitch of a young boy.
“And you brought protectors with you. You’ve grown smarter since the last time you tried to ‘kill me’. But seeing as you won’t use my name, allow me to introduce myself. I am Hnangha. Just Hnangha”

Now with an imitation of Niyames’ Harsh drawl bark.
“I assume he has told you our story? Good. They should at least have some vague idea of the events that brought them here.

Finally, Hnangha used the language and mimicked the speech of each race present, simultaneously
And here you are, inside of my veins. Tell me, what do you think so far? Speak your minds!

Pop rap sucks and "Gangta" rap sucks. Oh i'm sure there is some good stuff out there. I've even heard some of it.

I don't care though, cause Rock and Metal kick more asses per capita than all other music combined.
37  KOSMOSIS: Roleplaying and Story Games / The Storyboard / Re: Blood And Rust: Part one (welcome to the machine) on: December 05, 2011, 11:40:26 pm
Marangreim reared up and took off, his two allies safely riding his back. Across the canyon, under the conglomerate, and on forever. An hour or more passed before he even seemed to look around.

“Oh, uh, I think we lost em.” they found themselves atop an octagonal tower, 20 feet in diameter, connected to many other, identical towers through metal bridges. Waterfalls flowed down the towers’ sides. The ground was too dark and far to be seen, but a few dim lights could be discerned. then came a great thunderous noise.

Niyames gave his your an idiot stare, which, to be fair to Charkan, he gave to just about everyone with little provocation.

"Poison The water? why would the Machine want that? The only reason It does not crush us is the limits instated by it's programing. Why would it let a toxin flow freely from this place? stoping us from killing several miles of it's transportation network is something well within it's allowances.

By the way, do you know the purpose of that gold-plated structure? I suspect it to be the control center for this area, so if we commandeer it the same disrupting effects of a toxin could be achieved."

A curve of the lip suggested a twinge of sadness in Niyames.
"Again, why would the machine let us control anything about it? The only one capable of that is the one in its heart. That is an old building from the homeland. A control center, of a kind, I suppose. The High palace of  king Uneni. What I wonder is why the Machine would have taken and left intact its adversaries' power symbol..."

Niyames walked to the front of the structure.

The building was over 80 feet tall, at a very conservative guess.  It was a blocky thing, perfectly square around the base. Twin column flanked the entrance, which was only four feet wide but stretched almost all the way to roof. The orange light was stationed directly over it. On closer inspection, it seemed a recent addition.

Niyames glared at it.
“So, Machine, and I know you can hear me, why did you bring this here? I know it’s not sentiment. I have felt your soul, and I know it contains none.”

Silence. He turned with a huff. The machine’s eye stared coldly and emotionless.

But then came a responceresponded. A great rumble shook the world. The rivers splashed and the towers shook.

As the roar waned, it became not just a sound, but voices, a chorus of voices, screaming in unison in every direction. They faded one by one, until only one feminine shriek remained, before it too was suddenly cut off. Then it spoke.

"You know why, Niyames. It is the same reason you fear to speak my name."
With every word, its voice seamlessly shifted to another.
"So, the king has returned to take his throne."

End of part one
38  KOSMOSIS: Roleplaying and Story Games / The Drafting Table / Re: Blood and Rust on: December 05, 2011, 11:02:45 pm
Larentili, actualy. I thought I made that clear in the backstory. Maybe you should read it again.

Quote
I am Niyames, ruler of Ragara, king of kings, last noble of the Larentili, lord of the sky

all Iavolg are larentili, but not all larentili are Iavolg. Iavolg not even a species, just a slur for poor people. Him being a graid would make no sense whatsover. Why would a king of the Larentili be a graid? They have nothing to do with eachother.

Marangreim is the only graid here. he was a member of Rathaljiorms horde until he found religion. After years of atonement of attonement and service, he was granted title of Magistrate, and agent of Salom.
39  KOSMOSIS: Roleplaying and Story Games / The Drafting Table / Re: Blood and Rust on: December 05, 2011, 09:25:38 pm
Charkan followed the ancient king, his feathers cramped by the environment suit.

As the graid announced, "Here we are," the avian soldier stared in awe at the expanse of sewer-like pipes and metal rivers.

I think you might have misread a few things somewhere.

-Niyames is only like in his 60's.
-The only graid in the party is far away now, dealing with the COM.
-Graid are a large shelled centaurian species. Larentili and Iavolg are short humbacked lizards.
40  Useful Resources / Getting Started / Re: Army Classification Template on: December 05, 2011, 12:57:29 pm
That's what i've been arguing for a while. Anything really....big, should only be used as centerpieces.

Every species should have super weapon? Some races don't have militaries, let alone a planet killer.
And wouldn't each civilizations armies and airforce be constructed differently?
41  KOSMOSIS: Roleplaying and Story Games / The Storyboard / Re: Blood And Rust: Part one (welcome to the machine) on: December 04, 2011, 11:07:21 pm
The conglomerate made a piercing metal noise, and lashed at the ravine’s lips, ripped at its sides. Below, an avalanche of metal came down. Niyames barely managed to doge the fragments falling into the water.  But the fragments quickly clogged the way and the sides buckled and collapsed over the river. There was no changing of minds now.

But now they were safe, relatively.
Time passed, and the party drifted down stream, passively or actively. The canyon became a tunnel. Often it became steep, but never hazardously so. They were going deeper. Other streams joined and left with theirs. Whatever this network did, it was immense. And finally, as if to unnerving the team, underneath the surface, but meters below them, could be seen another river, of worms, flowing through the canal to destinations unknown.

The tunnel opened again, but not into a canyon, but to open shorelines.

“Here we are” said Niyames.
They had emerged into a tremendous place, filled with connecting streams and waterfalls. Spires rose and bridges arched through them, and flowing water cascaded down, The Place was close to beautiful, if not for the ever present monotonous brown metal.

“This is one of the machine’s greatest reservoirs. I never came to this place myself while I was here. I knew it was a sight. Though I never imagined" he getured with his steel talon. "It would have preserved on of those.”

and there, in the center of the room was a large structure, surprisingly colorful for this dull hell, plated in gold. (grimy, of course. its been there for decades) It appeared much like a cathedral, with a large orange light adorned above its entryway.

***

meanwhile:

The Iavolg had been scattered by the arrival of the COM, but were quickly regrouping.  Marangreim seemed less boisterous than he had an hour before.

“Unless you think we can kill that by ourselves, we have to leave. Thankfully, the big thing saw fit to build us a new bridge.”

He gestured to bent walls of the canal

“It’s where the guy wanted us to go anyway, so I’m charging there and not stopping. And unless you think you can keep up, which I seriously doubt your little biped legs are capable of, you should climb on my back before go. Also…”

He paused and shot a rocket into the chest of an approaching savage.

“…offer expires in ten seconds.”
42  KOSMOSIS: Roleplaying and Story Games / The Drafting Table / Re: Blood and Rust on: December 04, 2011, 04:12:18 am
Alright, that works then.
Also, good you didn't jump. Ke'ras would have sunk over fourty feet, to the channel of worms.

Let alone Marang, who is well over a ton and, more importantly, very dense. He's actualy the reason I decided to split the party for a bit. I was not planning on doing that here, but then I reminded myself that dark water is literaly a graid's number one instinctual fear. As demonstrated when Marang chose to stay above, surrounded by Iavolg on one side with a large metal barrier on the other, with the conglomerate of metal above him.
43  KOSMOSIS: Roleplaying and Story Games / The Drafting Table / Re: Blood and Rust on: December 03, 2011, 06:00:51 pm
You'll find out. Not anytime soon though. You won't see her for a long time.

Niyames has assured you there is a way to get food here; he survived here for decades. You do have food of course, if your biology is not close enough to eat the same food.

Oh, and I need to know how much Ke'ras and Ha le Mak weigh.
44  KOSMOSIS: Roleplaying and Story Games / The Drafting Table / Re: Blood and Rust on: December 02, 2011, 11:59:33 pm
Hmm, then we have (when he's ready) UFO and Yuu doing the canals, and Badge and Glitch on the other path yet to be described.
I hope to keep them seperated just long enough, so this isn't a permenant decision but should still have some impact.

EDIT: Oh, and there will be peacefull breaks inbetween action. On foot it will take many days to reach the core, but there are hiding places and spots to rest along the way. First one should be right after the first of The Four, which if you haven't noticed my forshadowing in every other post, are gonna be events. probably will be reunited for that.
45  KOSMOSIS: Roleplaying and Story Games / The Drafting Table / Re: Blood and Rust on: December 02, 2011, 01:40:07 am
yes to shooters.
and yes, you can fly, just take into account the shooters.
yes, most everyone should be wearing a suit. so I dont see how you can bite.

I split the party. If anyones character is unable to swim, fly, survive a thirty meter fall into water,  or just wants to, they can stay up top and join with Marangreim. no more than two.
