 Cry Smiley

*hugs*

Yuu, I wasn't saying anyone here was mean or insulting, oh no. I meant those "hostile, snarky" sites. You know, like that Star Destroyer site where there's a guy who wrote articles that made a lot of sense but came off as being a jerkwad.

Yeah, about that...

I was getting the same vibes about some members from that place judging from my time in Alt History Forums and Spacebattles.  Undecided

Those guys pretty much taint the name of the site.  Sad They actually have a nifty impact calculator, actually, among other things, if I recall correctly.  Smiley

"That bastard is watching that **** playing with a ****" should actually be a perfectly polite sentence to describe a child watching a dog play with some sticks. But it's not, because they somehow became offensive.

So should I actually update the Differing Physics thread or does everyone want me to trash all that work? Because Augustus won't stop pestering me about artificial gravity.

Care to quote it?   Smiley

We could use that system as a very solid "default format", after all. As in, if someone doesn't want to, let's say, specify that his shield tech is different from the rest, he could adopt the one in the Physics thread.

This will really help bring more detail into places like Beyon, where we can't possibly detail each resident's tech.

Basically, we can make it so those stuff are the galactic standard, kinda like how Toyota is synonymous for car, Windows for OSs, 747s for airliners, etc.

This also has the bonus of not impeding player civilizations from having different tech. It even helps, actually, seeing as it helps them stand out more.

Of course, there are certainly other techs out there unique to NPC civs, but regardless having that thread to fall back to helps showcase the "tech for the common man" in this universe.

I was thinking it's less like different companies and more like different fundamental designs. Less like driving an SUV or a hybrid and more like driving an electric hovercar or a hydrogen-fueled tripod walker.

Also, Toyota isn't synonomous with car. Then again, I don't live in a country substantially less than a thousand miles from Japan.

So I'll update after I post in a few RPs. Gotta keep up, you know.

Aye. Good point.

I was kinda pointing out that in most countries, it's kinda like one of the most common cars around.

Though, Korean companies have been starting to form a strong market as well.

I may be wrong on this, of course. I haven't really been up to date with cars for quite a while now.

Indeed. Been playing some catch-up myself these past few days.   Smiley
