The Core Combine is a collection of marauding races all led by the Skrall a slug like race originating from Felron. the center of their territory lies in the highly lawless and longly isolated Ragona sector, a sector longly considered by more civilized races to be lost to endless warfare between the species that had long called it home, the Ragona sector however actually does indeed have a high recourse concentration which does explain why control was so highly coveted by the races that inhabited it. The Core Combine after so many years has achieved its goal of domination in the sector, almost immediately after the Core began an aggressive quest of expansion, conquest, plunder, and assimilation

//Culture//

The Core Combine operates under an incredibly strict hierarchy that is decided upon birth in the Bio-factories and kept until termination of life functions *usually* All Core Combine soldiers and slaves are genetically programmed to obey their demanding masters, which they do so without question, no Core organism, be they a feral, a slave, a soldier, or even one of their genetically engineered weapons or monstrosities can truly ever brake away from the Core their sense of individuality and free will long lost to them upon their enslavement into the brutal regime of the empire.

The Core generally separates its ranks into three types ferals, slaves, and soldiers

Core Ferals- Feral Core as they are usually found are probably the most various types of Core organisms, mainly because their appearance depends on the planet they are on, ferals are not technicly the Core's main military force, they are more like a side effect of the Core's occupation or assault on a planet, ferals are created when the Core rain down there infamous terraforming spores onto a planet, which proceeds to transform the planets ecosystem to suite the Core's needs, which usually involves an increased growth in vegetation as well as the obvious transformation of animal life. Feral Core like all casts are genetically programmed to obey higher ranked units, which happens upon transformation. Feral Core are incredibly difficult to get rid of mainly because of the side effect of their enhancements is a hyper evolved offensive capability and a highly increased reproduction rate, even WORSE is that even AFTER a Core invasion is beaten back, the genetically enhanced ferals may continue to harass the planets inhabitants for years to come, because of this worlds that are attacked by the Core and survive may takes years to heal the wounds they inflict and the ecosystem properly stabilized, which would involve the extermination of EVERY spore on the planet.

Core Slaves- The unfortunate and innocent races that Core deemed useful and numerous enough to be considered slaves, slaves make up the bulk of the Core Combines military force, obedient to the letter, versatile in function, and generally a penny for a million, the Core favors use of limitless cheap cannonfodder units to overwhelm their enemies with nothing but pure numbers. Slaves can be found all throughout the Core Combine, they are the ones who maintain the factories, the equipment, and are generally the first and certainly not the last wave of any Core invasion, outside the battlefield it is not uncommon for slaves to be constantly overworked, though actual industrial deaths are actually not as common as one might think, as even Slaves are genetically and cybernetically enhanced to be able to increase their workload capacity. On the battlefield slaves are absolutely relentless and vicious, with absolutely no sense of self preservation nor an ounce of mercy towards the enemy, their common weapons are long fearsome looking battle claws capable of tearing materials to shreds, they are also capable of wielding ranged weapons but are generally clumsy with them, but again they make up with near limitless numbers.

Core Soldiers- Most of the times the sheer numbers and versatile functions of Core slaves are generally enough to bring most planet bound species and some starfarring empires down, but sometimes they just need that one last hammer to smash the nail on the coffin, The Core Combine generally sends out its warriors when they realize numbers just aren't enough to bring a foe down. The second a Core soldier is out of the Bio-factory he is immediately trained to be a cold hearted and merciless killer, there is no industrial position for soldiers, they know and love the fact they will probably die on the battlefield serving the cause. Their training builds upon their genetic programing which already makes them blindly obedient.

One of the most mysterious aspects of the Core Combine is its leadership, there is little public information on how the Core Combine actually organizes its hierarchy, from an ignorant stand point the Core Combine actually seems to operate on a strange scale of perfect order to borderline anarchy, however anyone who has studied the Core extensively knows very well they are MUCH more organized than they appear.

//Leadership Caste//

The Skrall- The Skrall are the de facto leaders of the Core Combine, a mysterious and highly warlike race of bionic constructs that supposedly originate from the swamp world Felron. They are possibly one of the most ruthless alien species in the galaxy. Incredibly warlike, arrogant to the core, and single minded in their goal. They are basically ones responsible for the destruction of many pre-interstellar and early interstellar races that inhabited the area around their home sector and beyond. However what truly makes the Skrall hated and perhaps feared is the brutal enslavement process they call Skrallification, a procedure they use to enslave any species they encounter. Skrallification genetically and cybernetically engineers a race all while brainwashing them to  be unquestionably loyal to the Core Combine. Appearance wise, Skrall look like grey skinned slugs with three eyestalks and tentacle like manipulators at the sides of their mouths.

//The Overlords of Central Command//

This....THIS is the Core's prime leadership, next to NOTHING is known about the invisible hand that guides the Core Combine known as Central Command, also sometimes called the Overlords, any espionage attempt to track central command has ended in either dead end, or the participants in the investigation dead. All of the highest casts of the Core answer to the Overlords and NO ONE ELSE. No matter how much two rival Skrall hate each other they know very well the second they even draw a GLANCE from central command then they better shut the F*%$ up and get back to work, central command is no nonsense when it comes to leading the Core, and they rule it with an iron fist DEMANDING complete, utter, hive mind equivalent obedience.

Core Combine technology

Typically with the Core Combine, most of their technological development is towards the singular purpose of warfare. Any race that faces the Core Combine will likely immediately note their heavy use of gravity and anti-gravity based weaponry, especially in space battles. On the ground the Core mostly employs smaller amounts of graviton weaponry and mostly sticks to plasma and lasers.

Gravity Based Weaponry

As said before, in space battles, especially mounted on their starships, gravity and anti-gravity based weaponry are a common sight. From basic gravity missiles which create short burst of unstable gravity fields to the much more powerful devastator class graviton bombs, designed to wipe out the surfaces of planets and decimate fleet formations, the Core are one of the few masters of gravity based weaponry. (Aside from say, the Wexxians)

Bio-technology

Bio-technology is another heavily employed type of technology in the Core Combine, you can see it everywhere from the organic armored hulls of their ships  the bionic armor and enhancements on their slaves and soldiers to the many horrible genetically engineered monstrosities the Core employs, bio-tech is an integral part of Combine technology.

Hands down terraforming spores are one of the Core's most infamous weapons, responsible for permanent destruction of multiple exotic ecosystems and the assimilation of multiple species. Upon subjugation, or deployment of ground forces, the Core will rain down capsule like pods which upon exploding in the air will rain down terraforming spores upon a planet, once the spores have reached the planet they are generally nearly impossible to get rid of. The effects of the spores upon reaching a planet is the increased amount of vegetation and the transformation of animal life, the reason Core spores are so difficult to get rid of is because once the spores enter a plant, the plant biology will be manipulated to produce strange pod like growths which will create spores from them which will in turn infect more plants, upon making their way into an animal they seem to make their way to multiple parts of the animals biology from the brain to the muscle system, even the nervous system, the spores  begin manipulating the DNA its self, causing several changes in its offensive and defensive capabilities, as well as giving it loyalty to the Core. But that is only the beginning of the spores threat, for you see when inhaled by sentient the spores take a while to actually force any type of loyalty to the Core, so the spores instead have the lesser effect of encouraging sluggish behavior and if not dealt with soon could cause entire planetary population to lose their will to fight back, which makes conquest and assimilation much easier

//Subject: Core Combine Homeworld: Felron//

Felron, the Core's homeworld, of all the things they have constructed, Felron is the best representation or Core's endless hunger, their endless need for resources...no not need...GREED. In a way it’s also a representation of what the Core has become. It is the equivalent of a being kept alive only by machines, the air is artificially filtered, and bio-machinery runs deep down into the planet’s surface, it is even said the planets core is artificially maintained, Felron was once a lush world but now the sky is constantly blackened by the smoke of pollution, and the spores constantly emitted by the thousands of bio-factories on the surface. When you land on the surface of this world, and take your first breath it is as if the very air is toxic; threatening to take over your mind, a combination of poisonous vapors as well as the hypnotic effect of the spores taking hold of you. Felron does indeed have vegetation, but it looks as if it’s poisoned and dying. Why the Core even bothers keeping this world going is beyond most races, however it is the closest thing to a homeworld they have, it is also one of the largest production centers in the Core Combine’s empire as well as a large center for information.

Felron used to have rings, but they have long been mined clean from orbit, from space the planet is a dirty brownish green color, which is the same for its oceans, the planet is surrounded by large space stations taking material from other worlds and is essentially under constant guard with the Core fleets always looming over it watching for any threats, the planet also shows signs of constant storms and winds kept only at bay via artificial weather control.

Imports- there are no imports worth mentioning, mostly basic things.

Exports- War materials, Genetically engineered beast of war, spacecraft, and is also rumored to be a major center to the galatic black market *after the Core is introduced to galatic community.*

Despite being a new faction in the galaxy the Core Combine retains a surprisingly large space fleet which it uses in its conquest, their ships are famous for having a strange bulky yet organic look to them, their not to concerned with symmetry in their fleets and prefer Biomechanic engineering, all of the Core's spacecraft have both organic and inorganic parts.


Core Fighters: This is the Core basic mainstay fighter, and like all their ships has both organic and machine parts in them, its appearance is of that of a lobster with 4 claws, two large ones on its sides and two small ones on the sides of its head is, as well as having a tail resembling that of a whale, lastly it has black chitinous armor with red marking covering it. Capabilities wise it is sometimes severely underestimated, with nothing but a mere singular graviton cannon and its 4 claws to grapple on to ships as well as laughably weak shielding it can be considered lightly armed compared to more mainstream fighters, but any commander who has fought the Core before knows better, for they know one thing about these fighters that can make them a real pain, their fast... REALLY fast and theres ALWAYS a damn lot of them you can litterally count the seconds before these ships are allover and enemy fleet and fighter force chewing at them like piranhas, they are also infamous for their maneuverability, as they seem to fly as though they are swimming in both space and atmosphere. On a last note Core fighters are unmanned.

Core Frigates: if you where to compare a Core Frigate and a Core fighter, even an idiot could relies that a Core frigate when it comes to outward appearance is basically just a Core fighter except much larger, shielded, and a few more weapons installed. Like a Core fighter, it still retains that distinct movement that it is *swimming* through space. usually one Kilometer, Frigates are generally seen as somewhat smaller than most ships of their class, but they make up for it with having a much faster speed, their infamous for being able to circle around larger ships like how Terran sharks circle around their prey. They are armed with multiple starship mounted death rays near their *mouth* and at the center of the claws that are attached to their head, the two larger claws have several self reloading missile hardpoints, usually armed with gravity missiles. *basically a gravity bomb but in missile form* Common tactics for frigates, like fighters, are to swarm the enemy ships, and use their weapons to whittle down enemy shields *since some shield types are capable of harming organic or inorganic matter if it gets to close*, once the shields are down its not uncommon to take a brutal and savage approach and repeatedly ram the enemy ship using their claws or their whole bodies, or even clamping on and using symbiotic Dorvans to pierce the ships hulls and board them or even damage internal systems.

Core Destroyer: A Core Destroyer is generally a clawless version of the Core fighter and frigate. While fighters and frigates are meant to get up close with the enemy, destroyers are generally meant to stay back firing of multiple long ranged weapons such as Gravity missiles, gravity rail guns, and other forms of long to mid ranged weapons. Destroyers are generally 6 kilometers in length

Core Battleships: With the appearance of a large black armored cuddlefish with red markings, it again takes the fish like construction that the Core Combine usually applies to their ships, battle ships are usually 10 to 18 kilometers in length, they are usually seen either occasionally mixed in with destroyers and frigates or serving as an escort to dreadnaughts and super dreadnaughts, armed with a large arsenal of gravity railguns, missiles, and graviton cannons, it is quite a force to be reckoned with

Core Carriers: Carriers take a turn away from the Core Combines, common look when it comes to fighters, frigates, and destroyers. Carriers look like large grey armored fleas with four legs dangling down below them, at the front is a large beak that opens up like a four way jaw, it is from this area the fighters are released. Armament wise, carriers are usually armed with short ranged weaponry, to protect its self from bombers and other shortranged attackers. Carriers are generally 20 to 27 kilometers.

Core Dreadnaughts: At a whole 48 kilometers in length and armed to the teeth with weaponry Dreadnoughts take a drastic turn from the Core's belief in "quantity has a quality all its own" Dreadnaughts are rare and few and armed with some of the most powerfull weapons in the Core's arsenal. Aside from the hundreds of missile, laser, and graviton cannon hardpoints located on the ship, one of its most devastating weapons is its main gun, the gravity beam, the gravity beam is effectively a weaponed tractor beam, upon firing on the ship the beam quickly changes the polarity from pushing to pulling effectively tearing the ship apart, and even if it survives its internal systems have probably taken heavy damage, and its crew probably experiencing heavy casualties.
Appearance wise Core dreadnaughts seemingly look very much like Terran stingrays, however its tail is similar to that of a whales.



Core Bombardier: A very rare sight in the Core Combines space fleets, not generally out of production costs, but mostly out of simple tactical advantages, its appearance is that of a legless cockroach, its an old warhorse from the Ragona wars with only two purposes: orbital bombardment and troop transport, the ship has two "modes" in which it diverts power either to its offensive or defensive systems, in its offensive state a small group could easily turn a planet to a mere lifeless rock in hours, its defensive state diverts 82% of its power to its shields, allowing it to take the heaviest blows from orbital defences, this mode is usually used to deploy ground forces to destroy said ground to orbit defences. But alas the ship has rarely seen combat recently as the Core have not really needed the vessel for a while now, it is indeed an effective siege weapon, and troop transport but only in prolonged planetary invasions, carriers and other more mainstream ships tend to be just as suitable for the role the bombardier plays. Bombardiers are usually 8 to 10 kilometers in length. The ship is armed primarily with orbit to ground weapons such as nukes or antimatter bombs, it also carries a respectable amount of invader pods and exterminator tripods.

Core Mothership: *Coming soon...*  Grin

//Core Industrial fleet//

The Core industrial fleets unlike the war fleet is led by the industrial class Goraks and generally carries ships that are suited to a more ecenomic purpose than a military one, and interesting note is that many Core insdustrial vessels take a similar appearance to military ones.

Core Mining Drone: basically a refitted fighter designed with mining in mind, not much to really say here.

Core Mining Vessel: basically a sized down battleship when it comes to hull comparison, generally 6 kilometers in length and carrying a large compliment of mining drones, as well as armed with a number of mining lasers and other mining equipment (its a big ship that mines!)

Core Slave Ship: Slaves ships actually serve as a cross between an industrial ship and a military vessel, though it is not heavily armed, a group of them are usually following in a battle fleets wake, the ship is quite large for an industrial ship at 10 kilometers in length, its hull is that of a bombardier stripped of its weapons and replaced with its very own bio-factory! after the Core subjugate a planet, the population will usually be sent to the slave ships in orbit to be genetically and cybernetically enhanced, and transformed into Core slaves...

Exterminator Tripods: Another very infamous weapon of the Core Combine, size of a large office building, tough as nails, armed with three concentrated laser beams and capable of being dropped from orbit, seeing the Core rain down  these vehicles is definitely a sight to behold, though generally the Core is not much for vehicle combat, as they prefer swarms of infantry to do their bidding, these tripods are general exception, usually opening up for the first wave of a planetary assault if the enemy has heavy orbital turret emplacements, after a wave of tripods a second group of invader pods will generally follow, chock loaded with thousands of slave troops itching for blood. Tripods also contain a section inside them used for troop transport allowing them double as landing craft themselves.

Core Slave Biology

Outward appearance- Your basic Core Slave generally looks similar to the species he was taken from, the first obvious difference being its skin color, which goes between gray to grayish green skin, its back is usually in a hunched position and its size is probably a bit larger than his original species. most often slaves may have extra limbs that where obviously not there before they where enslaved; this is usually the case with second generation slaves where the Skrall have been able to do a bit more tweaking to their genes. Moving on, slaves are covered in dark gray somewhat chitinous looking bionic armor, the most notable features being the trademark single optic helmet.

Genetic enhancements

Upon being sent to the bio factories the subject is usually exposed to genetic enhancement first before the bionics are installed this document is quiet simple in labeling said enhancements...

Skrallno serum- The first needle that is stabbed straight into the subject, anywhere usually it does not matter where the darn thing goes... this enhancement is basically a super steroid, increasing the subjects strength and size at a rapid rate (time is credits after all...) the subject is usually hooked up to multiple nutrient tubes in order to feed its rapid development. After development is complete the slaves have been observed being able to out muscle most other species.

Skrall Super Cell- Again taking the form of multiple needles being put throughout the body, this serves at a type of second skin that exists underneath the original composed of something similar to biological nanites, allowing a limited form of regeneration and a very high tolerance to pain; meaning it actually takes quite a beating to both take a slave down and make sure it stays down.

Second Generation enhancements- The Skrall are not to enthusiastic about giving these enhancements to first generation slaves who where transformed, as they believe the surgery required for such things is inefficient, thus second generation slaves who are developed in the womb like devices of the bio factories tend to have multiple back up organs should the originals fail and occasionally extra limbs, which usually take the form of extra arms or scythe like talons.

Bionic enhancements

Skrall cybernetics, like most of their technology are partially organic giving the feel as though they are organic parts that where not even grafted on...

Bionic armor- after all the proper genetic enhancements are in place, bionic armor is grafted on to the subject on its neck, back, and its arms and legs. Bionic armor takes the appearance of an organic chitinous armor directly grafted on to the subject skin yet looking as though it was grown naturally, usually with a dark gray shade of coloring with red markings. Capability wise bionic armor acts as a third skin, protecting the slaves from damage from weapons *not to a ridiculous extant of course* Bionic armor also varies in function, sometime weapons or tools are grafted on to give the slave a specific combat or industrial function, of course these can be changed as industrial slaves can easily be re purposed for combat and vise versa.

Skallvark- A partially organic *like all their technology* device that allows slaves to shut off sections of their brain and thus require less sleep this device is also why slaves and soldiers can seemingly sleep while standing up with their eyes wide open! the Skallvark device is implanted right before the neurocyte.

Skrall neurocyte- the second to last piece that is installed into the subject and possibly the single most important one: the Skrall neurocyte, is a very small partially organic organism that is installed into the subjects brain, the neurocyte wrest control from the subject and implants their genetic programming depending on what role the slave will function allowing them to completely bypass training, the neurocyte gives an automatic understanding of the Skrall language and connects them to the hive network, a massive communication system that allows commanders of the Core Combine to give orders to their troops near instantaneously. The neurocyte does not deny the ability of slaves to feel emotion, in combat the neurocyte instigates extreme hate towards the enemy allowing slaves to attack with suicidal zeal and relentlessness.

Bionic Helmet- Technically this would be a part of the bionic armor, but it is installed after the Skrall neurocyte has been implanted, it is nearly universal with all slaves save for those who apparently come from a species with a radically different facial structure. Before the helmet is placed the subject will experience the painfull procedure of having its eyes gouged out (OUCH!) only after is the helmet placed on, connected to the nervous system and effectively becomes the subjects new eye. The helmet only real effective function is to allow the subject to see in nightvision, as well improving the subjects hearing ability as well as making them immune to the dizziness and nausea that comes with battlefield stress.

//Extra notes//

-The devices seen here are primarily used to enslave normal organic species that the Core Combine ussually encounters, do not misconstrue, silicons and parasitic species are both capable of being enslaved, the Core Combine simply uses different tactics to do so (Silicons will be predominantly cybernetically enhanced, while parasites can have their DNA harvested and after be engineered as weapons.)

Core Soldier Biology

The Biology of a soldier is almost impossible to be cataloged, because no two soldiers are alike, soldiers unlike slaves are also not enslaved from other sentients, they are grown from the bio factories using the DNA the Core Combine has harvested. Thus soldiers of the Core Combine look as though you put a bunch of similar races together, put them in a chemical vat and see what comes out; the combined DNA is never contrasting in other words reptilian DNA will combine with other reptilian species, same with insectoids and mammals, though sometimes they will crossover, but not in a radical sorta way. Like slaves their skin color ranges from gray to greenish gray

Soldiers receive all of the enhancements slaves receive, however unlike slaves they will go through live training to increase their combat effectiveness. They also do not recieve the single optic helmet and instead show their faces.

before anyone says anything... yes I some of these parts where inspired by both the Strogg and the Space Marines (especially the Skallvark one)

These are basically the closest images I could ever find to help people envision them, the reason I put so many images for the soldiers is because of how varied their appearances are, the first picture of the slave is very different from my vision since there not robots, BUT look closely at the head, thats what the single optic helmet looks like, *the lights red though* the second picture conveys a good feel to what bionic armor looks like, though it ussually has red markings.

The Inner Sanctum

Only reference in the most top secret of Combine files, the Inner Sanctum is the home of the mysterious Core Combine Overlords. From what has been gathered merely by Combine word alone is that the Overlords are a group that are theorized to rule in a counsel like setting. Known only to a few, the Inner Sanctum is reached through a group of well hidden devices called portals, which can easily be classified as extremely advanced teleportation devices. Speakers of the Overlords use these devices to transport themselves to the Inner Sanctum to discuss and receive orders from the Overlords themselves and relay them to the rest of the Combine. These portals supposedly vary in sizes from personnel sizes to perhaps some top secret one that are large enough to transport capital class starships. Wherever these portals are the Combine makes sure to keep their locations hidden, this security easily goes to the point of complete, utter, paranoia, a mere hint of a portal’s location is enough to warrant a huge security breach and put the Combine into full militarization, enough that they would go on a galactic crusade to get a mere parcel of information on the Inner Sanctum back.

From what can be gathered, the Wraiths are supposedly some type of paramilitary organization under the direct command of the Overlords, when a great security breach has happened, when the location of the Inner Sanctum has been compromised, when the very existence of the Overlords is threatened, the Wraiths are the last line of defense. They are the Overlords personal guards as well as their personal assassins; “The guardians of the Inner Sanctum” they are sometimes called. For the Overlords to allow use of the Wraiths means they are personally angered or threatened and to unleash them is like letting mad dogs infected with rabies off their leashes.

To the rest of the Combine, the Wraiths are an Omni-present force that seems to see all and know all, and as the personal guard of the Overlords they have to, it is their one and only task which they do fanatically, for as long as the Overlords and the Inner Sanctum survive the Core Combine survives…

Purpose: Assault craft

Armaments:

x1 Heavy Graviton Cannon (Left arm)

High number of Gravity Missile silos located on its right arm and parts of its back

GWSS or Guided Weapons Scrambler System: This device sends out signals that are designed to interfere with an enemy targeting systems, guided weaponry and communication systems, however its power pales in comparison to the "Jester" class, which specializes in electronic warfare.

Description: One of the newest craft to be seen in the Core Combines arsenal, the Raider class assault armor is designed to be both a border patrol craft as well as a general purpose fighter craft (to be mixed or lead lesser fighters in Combine assaults)

As for pilots, the Core Combine genetically engineers organism that are biologically designed to fly these crafts. Due to the heightened intelligence needed to pilot them, these organism are gifted with the sentience equivalent to a soldier, allowing them to think and plan, not just charge recklessly like some slave.

Skrall Origin Theories


The Core Combine, when one mentions the name to your average galactian they think of a race of bionic monstrosities out to eat their children and enslave their populace. There right of course but few realize the actual caste system that runs the Core, in other words the Skrall. The Skrall are indeed the source of the Core Combine, the sentient race that gives the orders to the mindless slaves and soldiers. But many scholars ask....HOW? WHY? What could have possibly given birth to the Skrall? More specifically what could have given birth to their seemingly endless hatred for all un-enslaved sentient life?

Some say that during their time advancing on their homeworld they existed along with a number of other sentient species, much more physically capable than themselves, such scholars say that this eventually gave birth to jealousy and then eventually hatred. This seems to be least believed theory. Another says that a number of tyrants rose among the Skrall as they advanced, hammering the idea of superiority into their brains. Though even then this still leaves questions unanswered.

However a new theory has risen and it has been gaining popularity fast. It suggest that the Skrall are not a natural race at all. It states they they are infact genetically engineered bionic automatons designed specifically for war. For example: A Skrall is by no means physically intimidating being nothing but a gray slug, a creepy gray slug, but still a slug. But when placed inside battle armor a Skrall has shown reflexes that easily match some of the most advanced war droid A.I's. This fact supports that the Skrall mind was designed for combat, be it commanding or personally fighting. The theory also gives an explanation as to why the Core seem to regard all other sentient life as vermin to be destroyed or enslaved: It has long been suggested that Skrall's indoctrinated and unbreakable hatred for the rest of the galaxy is more than just fascist or racial superiority propaganda fed to them from birth, to put simply... its a need, an instinct, an uneditable program hardwired into their genetic code. The Overlords appear to be the ones who hold the leashes to the Core Combine, allowing them to apply their brutality strategically where it counts, but still where they may fit into all this historically remains a mystery. In the end this theory is not only popular and very possible, it is also very grim... it wordlessly states that:

True peace with the Core is impossible...

To reason with a Skrall is impossible...

To break a Skrall, to convince them to ever serve another (species), to convice them to ever stop their rampage is impossible...

While these last statements seem somewhat exaggerated, likely combined with anti-Skrall sentiments, as they are indeed not mindless, as multiple times it seems self-preservation has overided their "battle lust", but it is still not entirely untrue... If left unsupervised the Core will continue to spread like like cancer across the galaxy, and when they feel the time is right they will drive at it again and again and again, and in the hypothetical event that they did finally manage to conquer it, they would be no where near satisfied... they would immediately look towards the black void outside our galaxy and simply search for the next one to pillage...

Name: Mk IV Skrall Battle Armor

Armaments:

Left Arm:

x4 Heavy Graviton Bolt Launchers:  Because there is no kill like overkill…

Right Arm:

Automatic Grenade Launcher: (Located at the center of the three claws) Weapon capable of launching a variety of heavy ordinances from plasma grenades, assimilator grenades ect… The Right arms claw can easily be used as a melee weapon as well when called for.

Description: No matter how you slice it, the Skrall are still a warrior race who have absolutely no fear getting their own metaphorical hands dirty, there are simply some among their kind that simply dislike the idea of sitting within their safe dreadnaughts and battle ships and just trusting the slaves and soldiers to get the job done. However their physically weak slug like form is something of a contradiction to the above statement, so their answer is this: Battle Armor.

Upon entering, a Skrall cybernetically links with its armor, allowing it to function as an extension of its self, giving more maneuverability then one would usually expect from such a bulky looking design (That thing can practically tap dance!). Mostly due to their usual rank, Skrall battle armor is built tough. Designed with heavy plasma and gravitic shielding as well as the best type of armored hulls the bio-factories can churn out, makes taking one down without going so far as to bomb it be one hell of a task.



Before anyone says anything about maneuverability, note that all Combine tech is at least partially organic, so all those supposedly obstructive spikes of villainy can easily move to make room.

As for the legs....well I guess those might be a weakness... I'm might go with a different design later. Arms too. The Skrall is also kinda in a "sitting position"

All in all, I'm not responding to criticism well today... not that I won't take, but I'm dreading it due to the frustration that went to making this, the type that involved it getting accidentally deleted....twice...

As for the emphasis about how tough these things are, their definitely not invisible (maybe "bomb it" is a little too much). It's mostly that when they step inside that behemoth they automatically become the determinator/implacable man. So yeah....their tough, but not invisible tough, it's just that you will definitely say "oh ****" when one shows up. and they will likely be named/have plot armor or be a boss fight if encountered in certain scenarios

This is looking pretty dang good! I especially love the pic of the invasion fleet descending on the planet - frickin' sweet. But what exactly makes biological tech superior to plain old mechanical tech? Isn't steel hard than skin? Or is it for increased adaptability and flexibility?
