The Orealyianis Monarchy

Pictured: Royal Orealyianis (left) and Common Orealyianis (right)

"As the last chapter of the Communicant War finally drew to a close, so did the days of the Terran-Ixian legions residing in the known galaxy.

Seeking to retain contact with the denizens of this precious sea of stars, the Ariadnian leadership turned its eyes towards a small and particular people...

The scattered Orealyian race, long lost to the eight corners of the universe through the conquest of their former kingdom and the tragic loss of their world.

Lead by the rightful heir to the throne, these once nomadic people were gathered before and equipped for the journey ahead.

In the new galaxy where they shall found their second home, they will need certain skills to serve as the vanguard of the Ariadnian Government.

Orealyian blood and flesh became one with Terran-Ixian steel to forge a new generation of guardians.

And so, the Orealyianis Monarchy, was born."

"That bastard is watching that **** playing with a ****" should actually be a perfectly polite sentence to describe a child watching a dog play with some sticks. But it's not, because they somehow became offensive.

If you insist...Israel?

Also, nice pic. A goonaloid body shape, I see.

Basically, yeah.  Cheesy

Minus the West Bank bit.

But boy, do these people like to personally get themselves dragged into trouble.

Also, nice pic. A goonaloid body shape, I see.

Thanks.  Smiley

Specifically, they have a pretty flexible vermiform torso with three thoraxes which each attached to a pair of limbs. The first one is a pair of arms while the other two are basically Terran-Ixian legs.

While at rest, the torso is in an S-coil, like in the pic.

They've come quite a long way from their former appearance.

Derp. Totally forgot about that place.

Basically, they really don't have any notable territorial disputes.

Maybe in some distant outposts in international space, but in the only star system that they officially claim sovereignty over? No current clashing claims to speak of. Some tried to lord over everything back then, but that usually ended up with the perpetrators being basically ganged upon by the more level-headed folks.

The Athanatsu System

"The Terran-Ixian exodus marked the last days of the foreign legions' presence in the eyes of the known galaxy. It seemed that the passage of time would eventually erase evidence of their existence, driving them to the realm of myth and ancient lore. And it would truly be so, if it were not for the lasting legacy that they left behind to their chosen successors.

A vast and lifeless cloud of orbiting dust and slab, such was the ocean of husks which surrounded the once great Starship Athanatsu. Literally appointed as the "Undying One" in the words of the Terrans who created her, the remnants of the late vessel now possessed a destiny faithful to her given name.

In destruction's stead another, living, purpose was commanded of the now worn craft.

Consigned to the nascent Orealyianis Monarchy, her new era of hosts lost no time in exploring her, learning her secrets, injecting her new life.

From her flesh and bone rose many worlds, and with them vessels to protect her people and spread their influence across the six galactic winds."

- Nagar Suna, Atlas of Local Systems

The Athanatsu System \ˈə-tha-ˌnət-sü ˈsis-təm\ is a unary sub tri-unary star system composed of the main star Athanatsu, the subordinate stars Isara, Dalara and Talara, and the myriad celestial bodies revolving around them, all of which originated from the remnants of a decommissioned Terran-Ixian starship. Of the many objects that orbit the stars, most of the charted land is bound within five relatively solitary bodies whose orbits have been cleared of significant debris, namely Tanariadne, Shudariadne, Bisiriadne, Anagnostine IX and Anakinostine I. All of these entities consist primarily of scavenged starship components, with the notable exception of Bisiriadne, which serves as a replica of the original Orealyianis home planet and is thus mainly composed of regular rock and metal.

The Athanatsu System hosts a plethora of still uncharted regions populated by objects ranging from those the size of small asteroids right up to entire dwarf planets. Closely orbiting the main star Athanatsu is a ring of material known as the Inner Athanatsu Ring, composed of uncleared debris. The Inner and Outer Isara Rings, which lie before and after the orbital path of Tanariadne, respectively, are also composed of debris. The First, Second and Third Dalara Rings are equally composed of starship fragments, and are located before Shudariadne's orbit, in the gap between Shudariadne and Bisiriadne, and beyond Bisiriane's orbit, respectively. The First, Second and Third Talara Rings are made of the vessel's remnants as well, and are positioned relative to Anagnostine IX and Anakinostine I in the same manner as the Dalara Rings. Each of the subordinate stars host two Auxiliary Bands of minor bodies located in their respective Lagrangian points. Beyond all of these concentrations of bodies exist the Outer Athanatsu Ring, which forms the outermost portion of the system. In addition to these, various other small body populations freely travel between regions.

Anakinostine I and countless other less known bodies are orbited by significantly massive satellites, classified as moons. Tanariadne, Shudariadne, Anagnostine IX, Anakinostine I and Anakinostine II are surrounded by a shroud of orbital structures and spacecraft. The stellar wind of the system's four stars are relatively weak for their apparent size, though they still create a unified stell-wind bubble which reaches out to the edge of the system.

The Athanatsu System is situated near the astronomical hub of the Local Sector, which contains the home systems of many other prominent civilizations.

Urban Planning

Urban Planning is a process by which the use of land is controlled and the urban environment is designed for the orderly development of settlements and communities.

Modern Orealyian urban planning, or simply known as Orealyianis urban planning, has its origins in the several millennia of societal reconstruction following the destruction of the Orealyian homeworld, during which the era's existing Monarchy established its seat on a Terran-Ixian refugee vessel. By the time of Athanatsu's settlement, Orealyianis urban planning has come to mirror Terran-Ixian planning in many aspects.

Bisiriadne, a replica of the Orealyian homeworld, is a notable exception, deliberately utilizing traditional methods of urban planning.

Modern Orealyian Urban Planning

Modern Orealyian urban planning borrows primarily from Terran-Ixian aesthetics, coincidentally lending most landscapes the appearance of being situated in the interior of starships. Tall, sleek, monolithic designs are used in conjunction with various shades of white. Parks and gardens are used prominently, interspersed between city blocks and sometimes even integrated within the many high capacity economic and residential superstructures that fill the landscape.

All existing Orealyianis cities have been planned from conception, with the exception of Tanariadne, which initially developed from the rapid growth of the planet's high-tech industry.

Safety and security is a primary concern for urban planners. Weather emergencies are unheard of except in the meteorologically unregulated planet of Bisiriadne, where it is readily dealt with by using canals, retaining walls, and levees, among other methods. On the other hand, crime, war, terrorism and geologic upheaval still exist as considerable threats to society, along with new dangers such as gravitational anomalies, life support failure and cross-species accidents.

Crime and terrorism is usually dealt with through prevention, using comprehensive surveillance and identifications systems in combination with a powerful, efficient, tactful, emphatic and ever-present policing force. Passive approaches are also employed through liberal use of wide open spaces and botanical aesthetics which reduce criminal tendencies on a psychological level. While military threats are dealt with primarily by the Athanatsu Defense Force, many urban plans do have a secondary function of curtailing hostile movement while aiding evacuation and sheltering of civilians and giving defenders a strategic and tactical advantage.

Geologic upheavals in Orealyianis cities commonly result from accidents or acts of terrorism and war which damage the superstructures that directly support the upper layers of ecumenopolises. In such cases, cities are designed to quickly and safely evacuate people from the affected area and house them in evacuation centers until the necessary solutions have been implemented. In a worst-case scenario wherein the world itself must be evacuated due to global instability, all areas are designed to quickly and safely funnel citizens to the nearest capable spaceport.

Gravitational anomalies resulting from failure of the main artificial gravity systems is dealt with through strategic positioning of local gravity control systems which automatically take over. In highly multiracial worlds, this his has an added function of altering the gravity in certain regions to combat gravity-related illnesses, such as bone demineralization. Planners also take into account when gravitational anomalies are present in conjunction with armed conflict.

Life support failure is also a major concern. The secondary life support system for each area is placed within quick reach of individuals, in the situation that it does not activate automatically or through the city's central network. Shelters equipped with their own systems are also placed in strategic locations for instances of large-scale failure.
